The tooth
Ok, so typically I spend most of my time blogging about how cute the kids are, or what they have been up to, or something "exciting" that we've been doing... Today, I'm going to vent. I have this tooth. This one teeny tiny tooth that years ago decided to find a cavity. I went to the dentist, got it filled and all was well. A couple of months later, it started bothering me again. I went to the dentist, had more decay... got it filled. Bout a year later, it started bothering me, I ignored it. Fast forward 6 months, at my next "regular check up" appt, my dentist kindly informed that because the pain that not yet subsided, that I needed a root canal. Now, that's gotta sound worse than it actually is ...right? 3 weeks before Bryce was born, I met with an endodontist and had a root canal. Other than holding my jaw open for 3 straight hours and feeling like my jaw was going to fall off, No biggie. The only pain that day was the $600 CO-payment that I had. Now, time for the crown. A month ago, I went in for my first of 2 crown appointments. I had assumed this to be a simple procedure and that the worst of it was over... uh,... yea right. The first appointment was brutal. Apparently, my gum tissue had surrounded my tooth or something so they needed to "burn some off around the edges" Are YOU KIDDING ME? Still.. not bad, and 3 hours later I left and was crowned "the hardest-to-do-crown-all-month" Perfect. My dentist called that night and the next day to see how I was feeling. Because I was nursing, I was unable to take any pain medication... but overall, it was just a dull ache.... So on the third call from the dentist, he tells me that I need to come back because the temporary crown wasn't perfect and they wanted to do another impression of my teeth for the permanent crown. Today was that appointment where he put some cotton threading in between my gums and my stub of a tooth to "make room" OUCH. My last is scheduled for Oct. sometime. So.. bottom line, 7 appointments later, $1500, and a whole lot of time better have fixed this ONE dreaded tooth. If not, I'm pulling it myself
