Hillfest

A couple weeks ago, I heard of a large local church hosting something they call Hillfest. They are located on a large hill (hence the name) and have a great location in our area. They put on this carnival type day with pony rides, carousels, carnivel type rides and food one day in the fall. AND...it's entirely free. A great way to reach the community. We thought we'd check it out and knew Brayden would love it. Hillfest was from noon-6 and since we allowed Brayden to nap before we went, we made it there around 5:00 with only an hour to spare but we had a great time. Brayden loved the carousel and adored the pony ride. His favorite part of the day, however, almost left me gasping for air. This large slide pictured below was the last thing that Tony and Brayden decided to conquer before leaving Hillfest. It was one of those large slippery slides that you use cloth sacks to slide down. As we approached the slide, I mentionned to Tony that he'd have to go up with him. He nodded and agreed. Off they went. I got my camera ready as they climbed up what seemed to be 500 steps. Before I could blink, I noticed Tony sit Brayden on the sack and whisk him away down to the bottom. My little boy.. on this HUGE SLIDE. I just knew he was going to break his neck. As I finally caught my breath and felt for a pulse, I heard "Yahoo mom, that was cool" Tony had apparently missed the sign that read, "Must be 42 in. or else accompanied by adult". OOPS. When I said, you need to go up with him... he thought I meant the stairs and didn't think about the slide. All is well, however, the only one requiring medical attention was me and Brayden's favorite part of the day was the "cool BIG slide". Oh my! Of course, Bryce was in tow for the event. He hung out in a baby carrier and loved it! He looks like he's suffocating but he's ok, I promise!
