Is the End in Sight?

I mean... ARE.YOU.KIDDING.ME?

I can think of no better way to sum up my week. I can't begin to count the number of times in the past few days I have said, "are you kidding me?" out loud to myself.

Let me back up... Tony left for a scouting trip for a summer mission trip last Wednesday. They went to D.C. He left early Wednesday morning. It's been a nightmare ever since. Now, Tony is gone quite a bit and I usually don't mind him being gone... I get into a good routine, have the bed all to myself, and get to watch whatever I want on T.V. after the kids are in bed... I'm just not sure what happened this time....

Here goes... from the beginning...

Tuesday night, Brayden woke up several times in the middle of the night with loose "poop" (excuse the term- esp if you aren't a mother yet, moms oddly say it all the time). However, this wasn't the first night... it was about day 6. I decided enough was enough... If he had diarrhea bad enough that it was waking him up all during the night and it was getting worse... not better, I decided we should go to the doctor.

Wednesday morning, I called the dr. we went. Tony left for his trip too. At the dr's appt, the dr. finally gets to the room... Brayden suddenly decides he has to go again... you know the 30 min we were waiting for a dr probably would have been a better time to go but... the dr. kindly excuses us and all 3 of us scurry to the bathroom. I should have brought a newspaper... this is the speed in which he went. Good thing our Dr. is a kind and patient one... Finally, Dr. tells us that he would like to do lab work on Brayden's stools.... translated... he needed me to fill 4 VIALS of his poop and take it to a lab!!! 4 VIALS of DIARRHEA. So, all day Wednesday was spent waiting for Brayden to go, scooping it and putting it in tubes... Later that day, we go to drop it off at the lab... On the way home, I get rear ended... ok, there was my first ARE.YOU.KIDDING.ME. Somehow, I bravely made it through the poop collecting and whiny sick kid but the car accident through me for a loop. I don't think there is much damage but still.
On the way home, I felt like I deserved a sundae from McDonald's. I got in line, ordered, paid the lady and she dropped my $5 bill. It blew in the wind... she looked at me like, "you have to go get it". not a big deal but ARE.YOU.KIDDING.ME.

Thursday- Nothing over the top happened but I was certainly convinced that Brayden's head was going to fly open and the spawn of Satan was going to appear. It was that kind of a day.

And to top it off, a dinner that I had scheduled with some friends got cancelled because of my sick kid. My only glimmer of adult interaction... vanished.

Friday- I decided we needed to do something fun. Brayden was feeling better so we went to the YMCA to swim. Later that day, my mom, the kids and I went to an outlet mall. There is no better therapy than shopping... ok, eating is not bad either but still..
We got home later than I expected and I stayed up waaayyy to late working to be prepared for 2 kids at 7:30am...

In the meantime, my cell phone dies. I can't find my charger anywhere.

Saturday- We ran errands. Bryce started to show signs of not feeling well. I ignored them. My mother graciously called and offered to take Brayden to a movie. I got him dressed in 2.5 seconds and told her he was ready WHENEVER. She must have realized that my week was going uh.. not well because she offered to keep both boys that night. I took Bryce over after the movie and spend 2.5 hours of Target retail therapy.

Sunday- I pick the kids up, mom tells me that Bryce has a rash and loose stools. ARE.YOU.KIDDING.ME.
I take the kids home, bathe them... Bryce's rash is so bad that he won't sit in the bath tub. He screams bloody murder until I get him gooped with diaper creme and lay him in his crib. We go to church, come home, take naps. Uneventful... Tony is coming home tonight...

Thinking that I'm home free, I decide to take the kids and dog for a walk. as we are walking, we pass a neighbors house... she just had a baby and I had gotten a gift for her that I had not yet given to her. Thinking that I can multi-task, I go in the house, get the gift, tie the dog to the stroller and walk to her door. The dog tried to follow us, got scared and knocked the stroller over... only to scare him even more... He takes off running (tied to the stroller)knocking over one of their front lights, knocking everything out of the stroller, breaking a wheel off of the stroller and continuing to run down the street... of course, the neighbor has since opened the door and is watching the entire thing... thankfully, I had picked up Bryce before all of this... I politely tell the neighbor we will be right back. I think at this point I said out loud, "Are you kidding me?" Mortified, I take the dog in the house, go back to the neighbors house, give them the gift, return to our house broken stroller in tow and vow that I can never leave the house again after the choas that just took place.

It's now Sunday night and Tony is due home in 30 minutes. He better not be late and I plan to sleep in in the morning.

The boys and I were washing the windows today; we saw something go flying across the street. I thought it looked like a dog pulling a stroller. Now I know, it was a dog dragging a stroller. I hope Tony gets home soon so you can take a break. Hope the kids are feeling better too.

You crack me up - of course I compleatly understand those "are you kidding me" moments. To bad I was not running next to you today at the Y because I am sure your stories would have kept me running for hours. Hang in there - this is just a season in our lives. Oh and do you need to borrow a stroller?

I thought I was the only one who had days/weeks like that! I can so relate to that when Danny is on a 72, or a hunting trip!
