Tony and I have recently been "reviewing" the 5 love languages. The 5 love languages is a popular book by Gary Chapman explaining that we all feel/display love in different ways. He goes on to explain that sometimes we show love to people in the way that we best feel loved and not necessarily how they best feel loved. It's interesting. Tony spoke on them to the students over several weeks and we are now doing the study in our small group. We had long known what each of our love languages were: Tony- words of affirmation, Kelly- quality time and acts of service. What has been most interesting to me recently is realizing what our children's love languages are. Although, Bryce is too young for us to see how he BEST feels/shows love, Brayden's has become strikingly evident. He is a quality time baby. Brayden thrives on quality time. I realize that all children like to be with their parents, spend time with loved ones, etc. But this is Brayden's LOVE LANGUAGE. It is how he best shows and feels loved. It's been neat to gain just that bit of insight on my son and to nurture him in that way. Tony has recently made a bigger effort to give Brayden concentrated one-on-one time and they have instantly become inseperable. Brayden just wants to be in the same room with me at all times during the day. He just likes being with us.
For instance, I am working away from home today. I spoke with Brayden on the phone and he mentionned that he really wanted to come have lunch with me in my office.
"Why Brayden? Why do you want to come here?"
"Because... I wove you mommy" was his response.
Priceless.
